Hi all
Due to some housing and personal issues, my brother is having to rehome his 5 year old Japanese Akita.
Despite Akita's being a fighting breed, "Tosca" is very freindly and relaxed and is great with kids after having a baby brought into the house nearly 2 years ago.
Tosca can be aggressive towards other male dogs but is generally calm and has always been well behaved when around my Border Collie (which is a pain in the @rse but thats another story!)
Rob can be contacted on 07592710989 or you can PM me.
Thanks in advance for any help

Akitas should be in a zoo,not mixing with other dogs, they are extremely dominant and aggressive dogs.Do yourself a favour and give them a wide berth.

Say are speaking from experiences has your dog been attacked by one? Its just that mine has never attacked other dogs, he himself has been attacked by various dogs the worst was a Malamute`Who did come off worse along with myself who was bitten by the other dog trying to split them,Some dogs bark an snap at him while he just stands there unfazed,Then again I took the Vets advice and take him out everyday to introduce him to as many dogs`people`kids as possible `they all love the bones of him tbh

Any dog bred for hinting bears is not a dog I'd want in my house!
Saying that though the barber I used to use on king street had one calls Saracen that was extremely docile and friendly.

my late akita Amber would always give a warning if she didn't want to be bothered just sounded like a low grumble the new one Misty is good with people like I said in my last post its socialising her with other dogs but ive found its usually the other dog that provokes it.

Very clever they are always thinkin` mine stood on its hind legs reached over the pots&pans a few empty plates on the kitchen worktop then cleared my plate of curry&rice without making a sound` apart from that one time he never puts a foot wrong,On a few occasions let the cat in by opening the back door with his paw pressed down on the handle only to torments him by following him around like a Mother Hen sometimes the cat will go for him` but he just looks at him funny "hes off his head"

I have to say that I've met Tosca a few times and that is not the way I'd describe him at all. He's a gorgeous dog, very loving and had no issues with my dog. It may be due to the fact that Rob is a great owner. I've seen Tosca out with Robs Dad too and have not seen the dog be aggressive to any passing dog. That's first hand experience of Tosca, not a generalisation of the breed. I can guess just how much this will kill Rob and think it's sad but I understand the reasoning. Whoever gets Tosca will be getting a bloody lovely dog - I just wish I could take him
