I remember the newspaper kiosk - think it closed sometime in the early eighties . Just to the left of the kiosk was a shelter said to have been made from an old tram .

When I was about six I got seperated from older friends who had taken me to the Gala in Central Park. I can remember ending up at this kiosk sheltering from the rain. The person in the kiosk told me to wait there and hopefully the friends would find me. A man came along and said that he would take me home, which he did all the way to my house by the ferry, thank goodness.
Sorry bit irrelevent, but that is my memory of the kiosk.

Thanks guys, I vaguely remember a nice old woman ran it, must have been very cramped bless her.

Wow, you were lucky Bezzy, stranger danger and all that. Mind you I don't think there are more bad people around now, just people are less trusting and scared to help.
About 2 years ago I was driving along Liscard rd with my kids on a Sunday morning when a little girl about 3 ran out in front of me towards the park in wellies and pajamas. I stopped, rang the police and held her hand while we waited for the police, I was too scared to sit her in my car or cuddle her for fear of being accused of kidnap or worse! (the police rang me an hour later, she was home safe after escaping while her grandma's back was turned).

Sorry to waffle lol......

The guy who ran it was Mr Mack, but a lady owned before him, I don't recall her name.
If you remember this you might remember Killens' Dance School at the top of Church St.
