Noticed this problem began just a couple of days ago. Basically what happens is every 30 seconds or so, the icons on the taskbar turn blank and refresh themselves. The same happens with the icons on the desktop page. I have Microsoft Security Essentils Security and ran a scan yet it turned up nothing. Also ran a scan using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and it to turned up nothing. Also Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool, and they all found nothing.
Computer Specs Laptop Windows 7 Home Premium Genuine Intel(R)Celeron CPU 900 @ 2.20 GHz 219 MHz Installed Memory (RAM) : 2.00 GB 64 Bit operating system
The refreshing usually doesn't take more than a second or two but every now and then windows will crash and reset itself. Also, sometimes it gets stuck refreshing itself and that is quite annoying.

See if turning off "Aero" stops it.

Doubt it'll be something malicious. Try killing off processes until you hit one that stops the problem and then stop that process from loading on startup with msconfig.

Perhaps you can enlighten us and let us have your nominations for a 'decent virus removal tool'.
