Does anyone know a good fair-priced diesel engine repair garage, went to the one at the end of Argyle St but looks like it's been taken over. Got a stilo jtd that's started tapping recently which has more recently turned into an intermittent clapping when accelerating at low revs & sounds like a diesel/fiesta 1.1 popular when going past 3000rpm- don't think it's "diesel knock" from the injectors. Camshaft bearing also seems to be whining. The noises emminate from the head of the engine, i've flushed the engine + oil & filter change to clear out any deposits that may have built up around the tappets etc. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Bottom end bearings can echo up to the top mate and sound similar to an injector knock. If your confidant, pull the sump and have a check.

Try Peter Jones, he is in Argyle Street, next to the Argyle trading estate. I have used him twice. He is cheap, quick and good.
