Sheldrakes bar and restaurant seems to be missing from the index The back of the building is being rebuilt yet again at the moment. CLICKY Also The Hare Inn, one of the four original pubs in Tranmere is missing, this was on Church Road opposite the end of Dial Road.

There were a few other pubs in the Heswall area which have long since vanished. Not far from the 'Black Horse' there used to be 'The Ship', and another pub called the 'White Lion'.
There was also a pub at Brimstage once, but I'm not sure what it was called.

Brimstage had the "Red Cat" which is where the village hall is now. So closed just before 1932.

Could be wrong, but I can't see the Hotel Victoria (Heswall) on the list. And what was the real old one in Willaston called, was it the 'Red Lion'?

The pub just a little further away from Argos was the Manchester Arms just before you come to the old Wesly Printers looking towards the St Andrews Square Flats the one on the corner of Claughton Road and Conway Street was called the Conway Arms or flat iron for short as it was shaped like a old flat iron, then we had the Combamere then the Brown jug all within ten minutes of each other.not forgetting the Angel The Crown and all the rest still standing.

Proper name was The Swan. It was called the blazing stump because a sailor fell asleep by the fire and his peg leg caught fire. There is a picture of Churchill visiting the area in his car and you can see the pub in the background.

If I remember there use to be a pub on Borough Road that was called the Rose and Thistle just pass the old pet shop opposite the old fire station, then we had the Music hall by Charing Cross.

I think the Rose and Thistle was in the part of Borough Road between Nelson st and Collingwood st but on the other side of the road. There's an old pic of it in one of Ian Boumphreys books
