Yes it was the junction of Grosvenor Road and Molyneux Drive. We used to hold our bonfires at the bottom of Duke Street and had some great battles with the Tollemache and the Pickering, oh the delights of a peaceful and friendly childhood lol.

There used to be one of the wells in the staff canteen of the Co-op (now Asda). It used to flood over in the winter. Proberbly situated to the back of the Asda car park, close to the building. Cheers

I remember Hardings coaches used to have a garage round the back of our house in Fairfax Rd and we used to climb in the back of the old double deckers at night, the old ones which were open at the back with a chrome pole on the edge to climb on.

Also the Argyle pub in the precinct I used to love going to.

And does anyone remember the Britannia opposite Green lane train station. Loved it there, the best pub at the time. Used to sell SKOL on tap.

remember the gypsy lane and the gypsy camp at the back of the north star pub in laird st and the old derelict prefabs next to them ? you used to see the gypsies up and down laird st selling pegs in the 50s early 60s. also remember all the tram lines all along beaufort rd down cleveland st ,up stanley rd by illchester sq around the church and up laird st to the bus depot which i believe was one of the first tram depots !

I can remember Bob Martin's in Conway Street (mid-to-late 60s) just a bit further up from Bentley's pawn shop (heading towards the Town Hall). It was like a pub for kids (and I guess it was our answer to an American Soda Shop). Not sure if the guy who ran the place was actually named Bob Martin. He sold different flavoured fruit drinks straight from the barrel and in gill glasses... Blood Tonic being my favourite. There was also a joke shop nearby, which was another favourite place of mine.

Parry and Sherlock was the name of the garage. It was Joe Sherlock and Dave Parry.
