Hopefully this can become a large topic with pictures and memories combined. It can be stretched from as far back as beyond most people can remember to as short ago as a few months back with the loss of St. Benedict's, Leasowe Primary, Wallasey School East Wing (it's how I remember it!) so hopefully people have some memories to share. Anyone on Forum remember Maris Stella Rowson St New Brighton or have memories of 1950's of St Alban's Liscard?

I went to Withensfield Middle School from 1981 to 1982, it is where Liscard Primary is now. There is a Centenary Summer Fair on 16 July and an open evening on 19 July from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. All former staff and pupils are welcome to take a tour of the building. i went there also till 1981 i think...? mrs page was a form teacher, scary.... also went to Liscard primary , it was called Egerton Grove Primary then my first teacher was Miss Pelos think her name was...

I went there from age eleven to sixteen. There were about 240 pupils so you knew everyone. Don't remember the socials at St Albans, but my dad was strict so doubt I would have been allowed to go. I was not allowed to go to English Martyrs Youth Club as he though 'Teddyboys' went there which was far from the truth. I was allowed at fourteen to go to Scout Socials with my Mum and Grandmother. Big deal! I loved my dad,and it was explained in later life that my parents did not want me to come to any harm. Unfortunately I hardly had any fun as a teenager and even older. It's weird to have more fun over forty than when you are younger! Using church as an excuse I did manage to go to some Sunday afternoons at Kraal Club, and a couple of afternoon 'booze' cruises on Royal Iris until a neighbour who was on the boat spilled the beans!

Just read this post, band I played in "entertained" ther on many Saturday evenings. Can't remember the name(s) we played under, like lots of other bands, these were changed regularly if we didn't go down too well. They weren't even called gigs then, they were bookings! A visit to The Boot was usually required, either before starting,or during the break. The second half always started with prayers from the Parish Priest before he rushed off to give "last rights" to his whisky bottle. It was something for lots of young folk to do,no trouble and paid for our equipment and beer. What more could a teenage "rock god" ask for?

I was going to Our Ladys school during the blitz a nd our Canon Tallon was killed when our junior school and the church was hit. This meant us having a short holiday while some teachers retrieved books etc from the half demolished juniors. How is that for health and safety. Our classes were then moved into the hall of the infants and the classes were taught side by side which made it very hard to concentrate. Happy days. Joney.
