We haven't received the Globe for years and occasionally get a few sheets of advertising.
Now the Wirral News no longer arrives.
Good job WikiWirral provides an excellent medium or it would be difficult to find out what is going on at all.

They've reduced the print quantity of both of these publications (the same thing has happened with the phone book too). This saves them money on printing and delivery. I'm not sure if the advertisers know this though......

I queried why I stopped receiving the news a few years ago and all I was told by the customer service adviser was that it was a "commercial decision". I too wonder if the advertisers are aware of this?

I asked the Globe if their advertisers were aware of areas of non-delivery. They waffled.

I am aware the local rags are online but I like to sit and read my local news, for the same reason I buy a daily paper.

I also like to have an actual newspaper that I can spread out when I read it, fortunately I get the Wirral Globe delivered on a regular weekly basis

@Moonstar: We haven't had a delivery of The Wirral Globe for years either. But since I found WikiWirral, I'm not that bothered... I can get local news from here. And daily! No more waiting for Wednesdays! I noticed the photo of the Liscard Road crash taken and uploaded by a WikiWirral member made it into the Globe... I wonder if they know they got it second?!

I think how they could get round this with advertisers is maybe lying by omission? Saying for example: This is deliveresd to 88,000 homes accross the Wirral, but not saying there's 143,000 that could be getting a copy?
I have no idea what the Globe and News tell advertisers. But I do know that BT's Customer Service Department haven't been told about this big reduction in households that aren't on the delivery list. So I would be surprised if the advertisers (who I assume pay a lot of money) would have been informed?

I get a Globe now and again and always hang on to the most recent so I can get at the classifieds if I need them. Funny way to run a paper though.

Once upon a time they employed enough journalists to cover everything that was going on, including all the court reports. Now they probably read WikiWirral to get the news for the paper.

I came across a Globe from 1989- it actually had news in it!! There was loads of articles and picture coverage. There was about 8-10 pages of Jobs, too.
