hello i have just bought my self a lexus is200 and have found a few things that slipped the sellers mind to tell me about and i was wondering if any body knows of a lexus specialist or some one that knows there way around these car as i dont really want to take it in to lexus as they will charge a fortune please please help haha

Ok the seller listed the car as needing a coil pack because it was miss firing on injector number one so I thought not to bad I could live with that I'll get it sorted.
Then on the drive home the clocks started being iratic the rev limiter dropped then started doing it own thing then so did the others except the speedo , we stopped at some services and there was a burning smell and a bit of smoke coming from under the car to me it looked like the gearbox or cat that's when I noticed the oil leak
Just as I was about to leave then then engine cut out twice but once I got it started again and got it on the motorway it drove fine , the car is very slow on take of say in first gear and it is slow top end struggled to get past 110 but it is only firing on 5 so that could be down to the coil pack and the gear box is abit dodgey getting in to gear once at a stop ???

Oh yer when the clocks were having a fit the lights on the dash were coming on and off like a Christmas tree the trac control light ficks on and off as well the car will not spin the rear wheels at all

Once the car is warned up and has been driving for a bit the clocks start behaving them selfs the lights stop flashing on the dash the only one that carrys on flashing is the traction control light

traction control could just be a wheel sensor. no abs light on?
pull the codes and see what it comes up with and take it from there.
would get the mis fire sorted, cats don't like un burnt fuel.

Yes the abs light came on for a while then went off , is that what was causing the smoke ? Unburnt fuel ?

not sure for certain on the lexus but abs and traction control generally share same sensors etc so one thing being faulty will show up on abs and traction control.
wouldn't like to say what's causing the smoke without seeing it, but doubt it's un burnt fuel.

i stuck a sensor on for a guy the other month, sure he said he paid about £50 for a new sensor??
if you want it looking at drop me your number and i'll give you a bell in the morning.
