Possibly the one thing that has affected most of us was local government reorganisation in 1974, when well-run Councils like Wallasey and Birkenhead disappeared into the unwieldy, inefficient and (it seems) corrupt black hole which is Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council.

Launching of 'Enrica'/CSS 'Alabama'. May 1862 from Birkenhead In the bar of the RNA in Park Rd East there is a smashing print of the Alabama on the Mersey. I wish it was mine, I love it.
Birkenhead........ God's own Room 101.

Is the first print here the one in the RNA, Bandy? If so, not too expensive; maybe allow another £20-£30 for framing.

The curse of the Crying Boy Painting and otheres. Don't know how important they were at the time. In 1988, a mysterious explosion destroyed the home of the Amos family in Heswall, England. When firemen sifted through the burnt-out shell of the house, they found a framed picture, entitled ‘The Crying Boy’.......... http://sufferingsmoke.com/dooby/cdw7.htmlAlso, 'The Pillbox Murder 1955'
