Just an idea of Interest. To Travel on the Trains up to Southport On a Sunday Morning. Baring in mind the Train Times are Sunday Service. No Plans upon arrival maybe do our own thing and meet up again? I think it would be a laugh Train Pass Sunday who's up for it (Date to be decided).

I like the idea of a walk from Formby is it (where the statues are) to the next trainstation and then hop on train again, to Southport?

Another Place consists of 100 cast-iron, life-size figures spread out along three kilometres of the foreshore, stretching almost one kilometre out to sea. The Another Place figures - each one weighing 650 kilos - are made from casts of the artist's own body standing on the beach, all of them looking out to sea, staring at the horizon in silent expectation. Having previously been seen in Cuxhaven in Germany, Stavanger in Norway and De Panne in Belgium, 'Another Place' is now a permanent feature in the UK, at Crosby Beach. According to Antony Gormley, Another Place harnesses the ebb and flow of the tide to explore man's relationship with nature. He explains: The seaside is a good place to do this. Here time is tested by tide, architecture by the elements and the prevalence of sky seems to question the earth's substance. In this work human life is tested against planetary time. This sculpture exposes to light and time the nakedness of a particular and peculiar body. It is no hero, no ideal, just the industrially reproduced body of a middle-aged man trying to remain standing and trying to breathe, facing a horizon busy with ships moving materials and manufactured things around the planet. Please note - Crosby beach is a non-bathing beach with areas of soft sand and mud and a risk of changing tides. Visitors should stay within 50 metres of the promenade at all tides and not attempt to walk out to the furthest figures.

I was thinking of silver surfers/pensioners (that's if there are any others here besides me) using our free passes and visiting different parts of Wirral, having a pub/cafe meal or packed lunch and possibly having a local wiki member showing us around that area. If folks are prepared to buy saveways etc - even better

Lots of ideas buzzing around here! Sounds great.
Like your Silver Surfer idea, Degs.
Also, Saveaway Day Outs (whether Local or extending to Liverpool and beyond).
However, what about disabled people, here on Wiki? Public transport seems dire to me. Has anybody seen the gap between Hamilton Square station platform and the distance, height wise, to alight the train? By God, I'm relativley healthy but sometimes I wonder if I can make the 'stride'?

re about using a volunteer local wiki person if possible to show people around, it may be worthwhile getting in touch with various local History Societies for info or a volunteer guide
