Ellie by Lesley Pearse. (love lesley- all her books are fab) and Chavs:The Demonisation of the Working Class by Owen Jones. Both are 'un put downables' and so I read a chapter a piece.

I have just started reading Tea in a jam jar. Birkenhead through the 1860s to 1959 by Irene Kelly, Rude, I read Chavs last year it’s a very good read, have you read any Polly Toynbee books, very cheap on Amazon. My next read is going to be Poverty and insecurity, life in low-pay, no pay Britain. By Tracy Shildrick, Robert MacDonald, Colin Scott Webster & Kayleigh Garthwaite.

Shall check them out Rotty.
I am currently reading low brow stuff-
Cheryl Cole-My Story Gallery Girl- Wendy Holden
I make no apologies.
Both are library books-we must use our libraries to stop the feckers shutting them down!!!!!!

i agree rude, libraries are vital to the communities, the staff in my local one are great (upton) such a great help, so much pressure on them though, teaching beginners how to use the computers, Universal Jobmatch, soon to be Universal Credit, they deserve a pay rise, will they get it for all the extra work load, somehow i dont think so.

Hi Jabber_is. The books are great, & as you say they are well written. There are some really strong characters & it has been interesting to see how they have evolved and opinions of them change ie The Kingslayer & The Hound. My two favourites from the beginning have been Arya Stark & Tyrion. I'm half way through the last book & don't know what to read next as it will be quite a while before the sixth volume is published.

strange that as they are both my 2 favourite characters too, reading them 3rd time round helps lots of the plots drop into place properly and has really set the history to the world for me,
Have u read any of his other works ? Ive read the Sandkings, although its a short book its a very captivating read,
if you read on an e reader i can send u a copy via email if you like
