Environment Agency and Larton have closed the fishery to kill off a plague of japanese top mouth gudgeon. May be some time before it reopens.

dno but bout time. i mentioned these to 2 of their staff last feb. i had read an artcile about a fishery in anglers mail being rid of them an i rememberd them being different to our standard gudgeon ya get in the lower park so fished a whip last feb up there and had 3 of em out an asked2 of the lads in there if they knew the gudgeon could be top mouth ? and they seemed clueless, but said they will make note and ask the owner. worrying them being in there tho with there being a good number of other small lakes and ponds in the very immediate area. as for how i'd look to the owner as i heard he didnt care what was stocked or where it came from orignally apparently (I MAY BE WRONG AND IT COULD BE RUMOURS. THIS IS BY NO MEANS A DEFINATE AND I AM NOT IN ANY WAY SLATING HIM OR THE PLACE) spent many a nice day at larton having a pleasure fish and had carp to 14lb from there. lovely lil fishery to take kids on to learn etc.
