Can't afford a nre washing machine,it stops about halfway through and the display shows E4,any ideas about what to do?

If you do not have the handbook,google it on line to see what 'E4' means and what to do about it.

It says the load is unbalanced but this happens no matter what items/number of items we put into the washer

Do you overload the machine?  You should be able to see the top third at the back of the drum?!
