You might want to reconsider mate - the wifi from the Virginmedia Superhub is notoriously bad! I run mine in modem mode with a proper router.

I only use wireless on my laptop, everything else is hardwired mate. I used to find the virgin one woefully underpowered but now im in a smaller house, its much better.
Know exactly what you mean though!!

Out of curiosity. Besides improving the range, would using another router with the superhub increase the speed?
