Does anyone know if Wirral Freegle is working properly at the moment? The first time I got as far as getting the offered post and its title completed, only to find nothing happened when I pressed to post it. Second attempt , I got the subject line ok, but then it wouldnt let me type in the text.Same thing with Chester Freegle. Wondering if its my pc, but on the other hand, everything else I do is working normally .

I'm having trouble too Venice. Managed to put an offer on but won't let me put taken and if I go to "my posts" it tells me I haven't put anything on. It used to be so simple!

Not to worry , we have a wiki for sale and free section , so all is not lost ! The problem at Freegle is more likely to be Yahoos fault judging by past difficulties and Yahoos reputation.

Last time Freegle was down for a couple of weeks, I went over to Freecycle as I needed to get rid of stuff. I now prefer Freecycle as sometimes I felt like I was being treated like a naughty girl by the moderators. Freecycle seems to be more relaxed and friendly.

I thought Freegle was just the new name for Wirral Freecycle. Didnt know they existed side by side because the link I used to use for Freecycle Wirral, became inactive. Have you got an active link please?

Hi Venice, As far as I'm aware there used to only be Wirral Freecyle until about five or so years ago several groups had a dispute with the main group in the USA and split off calling them selves Freegle. I left Freecycle and joined Freegle thinking that this would be the only recycling network on the Wirral. It was only when Freegle started having problems (I think some moderator accidentally deleted it from the Yahoo Groups - seriously), a while ago that I found out that Wirral Freecycle was still going strong. I find that Freecycle is a bigger group than Freegle and more friendly. Hope this explains things!

Freecycle/ freegle does not seem as popular as it was. There has a large rise in freegle type groups on Facebook which in my opinion do not operate as effectivley.

Thanks Uffda, thats great Ill have a look. You cant have too many ways of passing things on . Wonder why its not as popular as it was - you would think that when times are hard , free stuff would be sought after more not less. I think it would be good if the council separated good stuff from rubbish and either let people help themselves or put it to one side and offer it to a charity to take. Its criminal what goes in those skips sometimes .

Since being with Freecycle, I must admit that I've found it's so active that I'm getting at least 80 emails a day and tend to delete most of them because I haven't had the time to wade through them recently. It seems more active then Freegle in it's prime. I'm a bit of an anal recycler and hate to throw anything away if someone can use it. One man's rubbish is another man's gold. I have an allotment and love the fact that the ethos there is to spend as little money as possible so most fences are wooden pallets and greenhouses from old uPVC windows. A friend has built a shed using external doors for all walls, floor, roof etc. Some people spend lots of money on building materials but they are seen as being people with little imagination and missing the point of an allotment. I've been to the tip before now and been tempted to ask people about to hoof something into the skips if I can have it. Haven't had the courage yet! However the guys at the tip kindly let me take bottles of waste engine oil which is great for coating my sheds to protect them for the rot. Just need to do it on a warm day and keep away from plants and soil.
