Hi folks, tunnels again,
I am carrying out a study on the the tunnels and would greatly appreciate any information on the above.
Conway Street Flyover Demolition
Photographer in King Street who took loads of pictures in Kingsway during construction
If you have any other information on the tunnels you may want to part with, I may be able to use it and would be very grateful
Many thanks in advance
Pete

You might mean Bob Bird who was a well known
photographer of King St. Wallasey. He was
around when Kingsway was being built and
probably photographed it - he did most
newsworthy stories.
I think Bob Bird's son is Robin Bird who may
have more info on Bob's photos. See here:-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ww2peopleswar/stories/18/a5704418.shtml Here is a reference to his shop (Medley & Bird)
and mentions info on Medleys 1934 Queensway Tunnel photos.

Not the demolition, but some good info on the flyovers at the WikiWirral Urbex forums....:
Clicky Includes this link to a pdf on the Queensway tunnel approaches scheme too (dated 1969):
Clicky Bit blurred in places, but useful all the same.

Almost on cue, derekdwc's recent post over on Now and Then - "Photo Index at Birkenhead Library"
Photo Index - the download pdf file mentioned there lists 5 photos on page 63 (BPL 2587 - 2591) which are held as 'Dismantling of the Flyover, Birkenhead mid 1990s' ...
