Yeah, sorry, I meant after the bus depot. We think the building was built for another supermarket?

The bus (tram) depot was there in the mid 1930s but I am not sure after that. I will ask around

Tram depot until trams went in 1935-ish. Then bus depot with, eventually, a new building. Then became ASDA when that was demolished - but cannot put a date on that yet

1, Tram Depot with facitities for the horses, stables etc.
2, Converted to electric tram operation.
3, Bus shed and workshops added.
4, Trams end, pits filled in, some entrance pillars removed to create extra room for bus movements.
5, MPTE in charge. Depot closes with most vehicles garaged at Laird St.
6, Depot demolished and put up for sale.
7, Land purchased by a supermarket chain (NOT ASDA) and a new store created.
8, ASDA remodel the store.
9, Some years later the store is extended at the norther end.

I should have the dates for the bus/tram depot somewhere, but I can't remember who the original supermarket chain was, though.

Fine Fare maybe?. It was bought out by the Dee Corporation, which later became Gateway, and eventually Somerfield.
Also, maybe Victor Value?

The bus depot was demolished for the building of a Gateway supermarket which was then taken over by Asda and expanded and redesigned.

The Asda was definately built as a Gateway supermarket. As previously posted, it was bought by Asda , re-branded and extended.

It was definitely a Gateway as Stegga said, they moved to the new site from the store on Seaview Road. I remember going in there with my mum when it first opened and she was pretty disgusted because there were no toilets available for customers. They weren't there that long before Asda took them over and had it all re-designed.

There was also the water board on the ASDA site. Wallasey's water came from the well there and was some of the purest in the country. It was contaminated by diesel around the time of the MPTE and closed down. Don't buses run on diesel?

The Tram depot was built on the old pumping station, before diesel buses where there. Two Pictures from "Wallasey Now and Then". You should be able to make out the text.

Think you will find that the building right at the back is the old pumping station and well. No trams!
