Good morning, Wiki folks!

I have a bush in my garden, given to me many eons ago, which I have never been able to identify. I am hoping someone on here may be able to, from the attached photograph.

It presently has flowers on, which I would liken to bunches of little white grapes. The red bits just coming through slowly change colour to green to form the new growth of leaves, once the flowers have gone.

Also, would I be able to grow cuttings from it? When and how?

Many thanks in anticipation of your response.

smile

Flame of the Forest - Pieris . Got one just like it here. Not sure about cuttings. Its tough though , has been neglected in a tub and survives well. Its in acid compost thats all.

@Venice - Thank you so much! Good to know we have our Wiki Experts on hand and always willing to help.😀

@Lollipop - I'm with you! In the 10 years I've had it, I've never been able to find out the name! LOL!

Thanks again for your time and effort, folks. 😀

Ha, not an expert sadly, I just recognize some of the ones Ive got myself . Had to put mine in a tub as it was growing too big.
Honeysuckle was my reaction too Lollipop when I scrolled down and could only see the top of it but those reddy bits come out as vivid red leaves , hence its name.

Definitely pieris, very useful shrub, and yes you can take cuttings. Best done as softwood cuttings, in late spring or early summer. You need to look for fresh new growth with no flowers, take a cutting about 4“ long, cutting just above a leaf. Then trim the end of the cutting just below the next leaf node, remove any remaining lower leaves and ideally dip in rooting hormone. Place in a pot of cutting compost (you can put several in one pot) then put the pot either in a covered heated propagator or inside a plastic bag in a warm place. Should have started to root within 6-10 weeks

If you are going to take cuttings do quite a few as you may have some failures.

Definitely Pieris, likes ericaceous compost. Agree with fish to take a lot of cutting, might be better to wait until Autumn and take hardwood cuttings or layer.
