Strange question...
Is anybody familiar of a white/ pale grey monument of a Cannon on or around the Wirral?
Think the platform was marble. It was on top of a hill.

Cannon hill in Birkenhead Park used to have two real cannons.
One O'clock gun you know about.
I have a vague recall of something to do with a cannon in Caldy, maybe grange hill.

When I was a Kid there was Cannon in the grounds of Bidston Observatory, You could look over the wall and see It..My Dad said it was the old One O clock gun... It Was painted Black and Grey and stood on a stone platform. Hope This Helps.

In 1946 the third o'clock gun was installed at Morpeth dock, at that time one of the earlier cannons was moved to Bidston Hill Observatory for display purposes and stayed there for a number of years.
The third gun was a 6 pounder Hotchkiss which is nothing like the earlier cannons, the barrel is more like those seen on traditional submarines.
One of the earlier cannons is now at the Maritime Museum in Liverpool.
That leaves the question of where did the cannon that is now at Morpeth Dock come from? Was that the other of the earlier cannons or just a random cannon mounted to represent the earlier cannons.
