any idea how to find out if there was a stonemason/builders yard, in the tranmere area about 1940.

Birkenhead Library phone directory, newspaper adverts, Guild of Stonemasons? MBS and Reynolds timber still occupy yards.

There was a stone masons yard in Roslyn street behind the Car Phone Warehouse on New Chester rd in the 60's. Also there were sandstone quarries located in Holt Hill, Queen Street and Old Chester Rd, whether these had stone masons employed in them, I have no idea.
