just bought my new toy today

new brakes ,hoses, cv joints ,oil and filter change

oh no i was fixing the radio i think the last owner had swaped the radio over the aieral had been disconnected

IIRC all the VAG TDi (VW, Audi, Skoda) cars use a Garrett turbo.
The only reason for Joes mates not having one, is that the OEM unit failed, and has been replaced with a non Garrett replacement.

You cant really miss it on those engines it sits pretty high and is easily visable
