A police press officer has just got back to us with this: “Merseyside Police can confirm that a number of homes have been evacuated in Park Road East and Patterson Street, Birkenhead as a precautiion this evening following the discovery of a suspected explosive device. “The device was discovered by the landlord of a recently-vacated property that he had gone to check on at around 5.30pm. “The man reported his suspicions to the police and local officers closed the roads and evacuated homes within a 100 metre safety cordon.” http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/live-breaking-news-liverpool-merseyside-
