Budapest have decided to put pictures of dogs on their Pizza boxes.
So many dogs , (probably many street dogs from places like Greece) the animal rescues are now full to breaking, so anyone buying a pizza can have a free dog ! The pictures are stuck on the pizza boxes . Good results apparently.
Is it an idea that could be copied here ?

I'm all in favour of encouraging rehoming of dogs, our family dogs have all been rescues, but that seems rather flippant to me. Free dog with a pizza?! Giving a dog a home should not be an impulse, but a carefully considered thing. What happens when the pizza-eaters discover that their free dog steals food, wees in the house, bites the neighbours, chews shoes, needs expensive vet treatment etc? Thrown out on the street or back to the rescue centre, probably, for the whole sorry process to begin again. Perhaps raising awareness of the situation so people can consider purchase, and raising money for spaying/neutering of all strays would be a better campaign?

Good idea in theory Granny but Im with Greenwood on this. To many animals go to people who after a short while find they either dont have the time or the commitment or they just cant be bothered.
