Feedback seems to be positive so i have gone ahead and created a paypal account for sponsorship.

My main concern is that none internetty people wont have paypal so for that reason i am going to see if cancer research can supply me with a template sponsorship form that they may have.

I am also looking into setting up one of those "sponsor me" forms but not sure about that.

Right, the challenge...

To swim 5km which is 200 lengths of the 25m swimming pool that i have at my disposal. Me and Hannah are both going to do it, but this sponsorship will be for the both of us - we will, however, both have individual forms for our respective friends and family.

That is the paypal address that we have set up to get out sponsorships. Am i right in thinking that even if you dont have a paypal account, you can send me money from debit/credit cards?

If not i can do cheques or something but i doubt people will want to go to that much effort.

The fact is that every penny helps the cause, whether its £1 or £100 every little helps and we will be thankful for any support we can get.

Excluding certain skin cancers, there were more than 270,000 new cases of the disease in 2001 - and the rate is increasing by about 1% a year.

Some cancer, such as breast, are becoming more common, while new cases of lung cancer fall away due to the drop in the number of smokers.

However, while the overall number of new cancers is not falling, the good news is that successful treatment rates for many of the most common types are improving rapidly.

I have already got £5 from someone on PF so thats a total of £105 today - made up, really am.

Id love to sponsor this, and I don't want to question the legitimacy of this appeal/challenge, but there isnt really any way of proving you are going to/did the challenge. Also I dobnt like giving money via PayPal to supposed charity appeals as they can not really be traced.

Besides I give money to Cancer Research UK only a monthly basis by Direct Debit anyway.

Good luck though, if its genuine (and I hope and suspect it is) its a worthy course!

Fantastic cause, best of luck doing it. I cant sponsor you though for similar reasons to matty.I only sponsor close friends and family for trust reasons.
