Aye, this is something Rhys spotted many moons ago.

Im not sure how they work though, as they dont have secondary evidence (ie. the road markings), maybe LTI2020 could explain a bit better??

there are strips set in the road surface which i think activate it when cars go over too fast, look like expansion strips..

I thought to make a conviction stick in court they need the secondary visual evidence too? As without it, the accuracy and reliability of the camera in question can be questioned??

Why on earth do they have distance markings on the road and why on earth does it take two photo's?

Or is it just for fun??

Im talking about all cameras in general matey.

The distance markings have only just recently been re-painted on the camera by 3 counties on Hoylake Road, funny thing for them to do that if they dont use them.

I think you ought to refrain from calling it "crap" now, as you have just stated, it is fact. Without the lines on the road, the rear facing camera's couldnt be used to prosecute someone. Well in theory they could, but it wouldnt hold up in court too well.

Its true that I didnt know how the front facing cams worked, but then I bet there isnt many people who do. I was basically referring to what I do know, which is that the lines are needed on the usual camera's one see's out and about, to prove that you were doing above the speed limit.

Theres a million and one loopholes in the law, there isnt anything (general road offences) that a specialist (and may I add expensive) lawyer can't get you off for. This is why so many celebrities and footballers etc get away with traffic offences without even points in most cases, because they hire the very best lawyers in the business and there is always loopholes in almost everything.

This was exposed big time by the Tonight programme on ITV just last year.

This is just a stupid theory and I do not condone trying this,

when driving over the wires/sensors in the road in sequence at above the speed limit, a signal is then sent to the camera in the box to take a photo, is this correct,

There is no speed sensor in the actual box on top of the pole, only a camera, is this correct.

If both these are correct, could you not bypass the sensors on the road in someway. i.e covering them up with a sheet of wood (simple I know, but sometimes the simple ways work the best) or in some more techinal/mechanical/electrical way.

or if you were silly enough to bypass these sensors in the form of what is known as catching air.

I've been told that traffic light sensors (like V and / shaped accross just before the junction) used to be able to be bypassed using a relatively small piece of steel like a shovel.

But I don't know if the technology has been upgraded since then?

There is one easy solution to get around this though - don't speed lol

Fair enough.

But nah, I don't think there would be a way around it unless you have big ass magnets attached to your car to fook the signal up in someway.

Wouldn't be worth the hassle if it could be done though

MAGNETS, I hadnt thought of that, what about them snow chains that go over your tyres.

or invent a hover car that doesnt touch the road surface, and therefore doesnt touch the sensors. where Doctor Emmett Brown when you need him.

They have it sussed in London and Manchester
its called car cloning.

Just nick a reg plate and then you don't have to worry about the speeding ticket wink

Only the fact your in a car with the wrong plates
and impersonating a skoda with out permission lol

They probably implemented the sensors as there were situations
where a false trigger could cause a ticket to be issued
when it was camera only.

Silver car and a caravan, somthing like that anyway.
