I have been interested in metal detecting for years now, but never that seriously. Had a couple of small hobby units many years ago, but nothing serious. Is there anyone out there with a good knowledge of machines available to give advice on buying and using? Maybe if a few are into it we could group up on occasions and "find vast wealths!!" Just think, we are exploring all these sites in UE, but what lies beneath? Any feedback people?

Im interested in going along to group occasions, but would'nt buying any kit myself, the prices of equipment is phenominal if you are serious about it. Got no advice to give about them however as I have never owned one, not even a kiddys one haha! Just interested in what people might find with em.

Matt, ive seen machines that would get you going below £100. I know the basics and have had them in the past, mainly Moreton shore and Hoylake, Biggest find was a WW2 British helmet at Moreton buried in the dunes!
