If you are only just starting out then you would be better off playing on the municipal courses untill you are sure you enjoy the game. Better that than paying a couple of hundred quid and not playing. Brackenwood is the best course, in my opinion, about £12.50 for 18 holes or to play only 9 go to Warren Drive.

Hi, you could try the Warren Municipal Golf Club off Grove Road in Wallasey Village. Its a council run 9 hole golf course. You can pay per round or buy membership. The telephone number is 0151 639 5730, satnav code is CH45 0JA. Alternatively try the Chip and Putt at the end of Harrison Drive, always busy with people practising shots, again it's council run, I don't know the contact number. Hope this helps

Thanks for that guys, I have played on all the Wirral muni's, have to say that I think the one @ the port seems to be in the best nick, they have a very reasonably priced members club, £80 for the year!

The Ellesmere Port course is lovely, apart from that hole that goes over the line of trees, hate that hole. BUT strictly speaking, that course isn't in Wirral, it's part of the Borough of Ellesmere Port and Neston not Wirral Borough.

Shame they got 'inspectors' out in the evenings now. I learnt to play Golf, by taking advantage of the 'shop shutting' around 7pm on Summer evenings. The beauty being was that the people behind couldnt moan about me 'holding up play!'
