Our local 'Beauty Spot' is gradually becoming more of an eye sore with all the mess from the adjoining tip being left to fester and the worst of it is the dog walkers protest at having no bin - piling the bags up and scattering them around the entrance. As a dog walker myself I would really appreciate a bin. Surely the council could have some pride in what is a lovely place and help us to Keep Wirral Tidy. And - get the tip to clear up all the mess that blows over!

If you have any pride, get out there and clean it yourself...
Why is it people moan that these things arnt being done, yet never want to do it themselves; this nanny-state attitude is pathetic, do you want the council to wipe your arse and drive your car as well??

Bit harsh that?
'Some' of us pay the council extortionate rates to provide a certain level of service. I have no idea what the state of Bidston Moss is like so cannot comment on that personally but do think the tone of your reply was a tad 'off' to say the least? Why should the poster have to go out and clean up other dog walkers mess because the council do no provide a bin for it to go in? The poster has a point in what they were voicing and your reply was uncalled for imho.

Yes, the Council have a duty to keep the place as clean as possible, but dropping litter is an offence. People should take their litter with them if they can't find a bin or it's alread full. As for dog owners leaving poo on the floor in a bag, they should be heavily fined if caught. Say £1,000? If people choose to have a dog, they should be ultimately responsible for the mess it makes. No dog poo pins about? Take it home and put it in your own bin! Or better still, get a dog poo compost bin.

As far as I know, all Councils have a range of powers to deal with people or organisations causing a nuisance from a number of sources, eg litter, dust, noise etc. They can make them clean up, change working practices or stop altogether - and be fined or even closed down, as necessary. The fact that the operator of the recycling plant (who I assume are the culprits from what you say) just happen to be contractors to the Council shouldn't make any difference. Indeed, as they have got a contract with the Council, then the Council should be in a better bargaining position. I think your first port of call is to contact the Council to - a) Complain about the arrangements at the recycling plant, b) Speak to the Dog Patrol department, and c) Suggest that more litter facilities are provided.
