Why do people get so excited about their OWN money?
It's not a win. You threw that and more away in interest by taking out the loan in the first place.

Buying a house through a mortgage is not throwing money away, I'm glad I did it now that I'm retired. Put in a PPI claim, just waiting for a result, if I get one. Nothing to lose by trying but I was sold PPI when it wasn't actually required. The salesman, being financial experts, advise to get it because they get the commission. They've come unstuck is all. Half the time they always found an excuse not to pay out anyway, much the same as the home insurance crowd.
By the way, if you're thinking of it don't go through these claim merchants either. Get the moneywise website and follow their drill.

Agree with you bandicoot, a mortgage, IMO, is the ONLY thing you should ever need to finance. Obviousy theres a few business/financial reasons for taking like being able to borrow the money at a lower rate than you're getting on cash in the bank which may apply t large purchases by wealthy people or business but if your the avg Joe an you can't afford a £10k motor without £2k down and rest on finance then you have no right to be in a £10k car, for example - you should be in the £2k car.
People taking out loads of loans in the past is the reason this world has gone into meltdown.

not everyone is lucky enough to have cash, it's usually out of desperation people take out loans, and although they may be able to manage the payments at the time, circumstances often change, and that's when the trouble begins. it's a case of (there but for fortune) I'm afraid.

Hi do you know anything about claiming back bank charges. I found these very helpful every thing you need from templets to good advice` so get all of your bank charges or PPI back for yourself` Why give these Claim companies(who clutter up the process with false claims) 30% of your cash when they go through the same procedure as you can in 3 simple steps on this page http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-chargeshttp://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance

Result, got several K back. Washing machine and hoover both decided to go on the blink at the same time but what the heck, at least I've got the dosh to replace them now without too much pain. Whatever you do don't go through one of these claim companies, do it yourself. I didn't charge myself a fee.
