I was in Liverpool at this time and the sun was shining and not a sign of rain, I came back through the Birkenhead tunnel at 4ish and it was dry as a bone.

These showers have been so localised - I was in Liverpool and there was hardly any rain when I was there, but it had been really heavy in Wirral. That stretch of the tunnel approach is prone to flood - that's the worst I've seen it though. I wonder why they haven't put in some sort of extra drainage. Suppose it's one of those places where there's nowhere for the water to go!

in that pic is that a 4X4 in front of the white corsa that's also avoiding the 'puddle' ???

why buy a 4X4 if you don't want to drive through a puddle.

One would assume at the point of taking this photo you had already come to a complete stop turned off your engine and removed the keys from the ignition ?, other wise this could be classed as a road traffic offence would it not ?.

While it was a nice traffic report, I think other road users safety by you maintaining 100% control of your motor car is more important.

People may find my comment harsh and unfair but if it had caused a crash and someone was hurt by this mindless act what would you be saying then ?.

I notice from the time of the posting it is just after midnight so I assume you had had one or two sherbets, because its obvious to everyone else that the photo is taken by some one on the back seat leaning over (yeah right)

Always baffled me that, I would be hoofing it through the puddle as its fun.

I agree, although it doesn't always work out as well as you hope.

And yes I know this isn't a 4x4 but it's still funny.

Not so fun if you aquaplaned which may I add you would do if driving at speed.

The 4x4 is avoiding the puddle for safety, driving through puddles especially that big is very dangerous.

What difference would it make whether the keys were out of the ignition or not? A stationary car is as safe as a babies cradle even with the engine running.

Lets hope he didn't read this post while driving. He'd have fallen asleep at the wheel!
