Does anyone know anything about cats? Ours was neutered about 4 years ago and has had no problems since but this evening he is trying to pee in the kitchen (always goes outside normally) and can't. He has a little cry then lays down and opens his legs and licks his little pouch thing where his bits should be, but there is something sorta poking out and it has a little spot of blood on it. Anyone any idea what to do or what can be wrong?

It's only a guess but the first thing i thought was " Cystitis ".
i found a link for you to read on it and one of the first things the article says is " Unlike dogs and people, cystitis in cats is frequently caused by stress rather than by an infection." So maybe your cat has been stressed with the fireworks this passed week ?

anyway here is the link: http://www.willows.uk.net/general-practice-service/pet-health-information/cystitis-in-cats

hope ths helps and the poor little fellow recovers soon smile

Kidney infection, try the RSPCA off laird st.

If you know someone on the job seekers support they get vouchers and don't need to pay.

Vets are expensive, not good at this time of year but you cat needs urgent attention.

Hi our cat has this problem it sounds like urinary tract infection must cats have this especially males. My cat was the same he is on a special diet if wet food and has a tablet caused cystaid these can be bought cheaper on the net once the vet has confirmed the problem. We feed our cat royal canine urinary OS of a morning and the pouch wet food whiskers of an evening. It soon stops once they are on medication I recommend broadway vets fees not bad let me know how you get on

The emergency vets fee was £100. Phoned broadway and I think they share the emergency number with birch. He had an op last night to take a kidney/bladder stone out and catherterise him so he will be in for a few days yet frown Paid £120 last night and when we pick him up they reckon it will be about another £100, so not the end of the world. The alternative would have been to be cleaning up cat insides this morning if his bladder had have burst overnight and I really would rather not be doing that! They said he will have to have a specialised diet, probably halls or something, they are going to write it all down for me. Thanks everyone for your help, I was worried about asking for help only to get the old 'why aren't you insured' questions and sarcastic comments so thanks everyone smile Hopefully we will have Grock (yeah, really!) home asap!
