Just had a quick look at the large scale OS Map, and it was indeed almost opposite the end of Nelson St at 93 Borough Rd (south side). I'd say about 20 feet away to the west from where the flyover joins the level road. On the map it is marked 'BH' which actually stands for 'Beer House' which is a bit different to 'PH' for Public House. Possibly this part of the map was never updated before this and adjoining buildings were demolished in the first phase of works for the Borough Rd section of the Tunnel Flyover in about 1967.

isn't there a pub on top of well lane as well?? i can picture it but can't put a name to it and does any1 remember Miltons in Birkenhead? I think that the name you are looking for is the Black Horse pub at the top of Well Lane. hope this helps.

Can you add the "Thingwall Rec. Centre Social Club" been going since 1981 and survived up and downs of economy and drinking habits - now thriving again - due to shrewd management !
Very friendly local club... with acts on at least once every 4 weeks.
Also prices cheaper than legion - with 2 price rises ignored...!

Hi. Anyone know of the pub in Birkenhead center that used to be by the old Argos near the old Asda car park and Market (now a bank on the corner occupies the rough area, next to the new Argos)Thanks
