ran a few test today cos i bought the car with a problem and i want to get it sorted.
the problem is that the car smokes when on boost. Found out i need a new piston ring. been all over the wirral today getting prices.
£260 is the cheapest, thats 4 pistons and rings. then was quoted £1000 to get them fitted!... I will be doing this myself & with my uncle next month when i have holidays from work.
anyone got any ideas or thought's on this.

I'm not an expert either, but i'd agree with Sanchez. It'll still be quite costly, but nowhere near as much as you got quoted. Don't forget you will also have the cost of new gasket(s), possibly timing tools & cost of skimming. Make sure a reputable company does it if you do need to get it done. I'm replacing the head gasket on my car myself to save labour costs (not as hard as replacing pistons and rings though) Just make sure you're both confident enough and capable and have enough knowledge and tools. You can never have enough tools.

Well i am an expert Are the parts generally expensive? And like everyone else says "Ask Stuy" There could be a hell of a lot of labour involved, but what do i know, i just like your day tip video's
